The ultimate goal of FENAPD is to improve the quality of the lives of persons
with disabilities through active and effective intervention of its member DPOs.
To this end, the Federation has the following objectives:

capacity of its member DPOs

social disability awareness level
v Promoting
inclusive education
v Promoting health
HIV/AIDS services for persons with disabilities
v Economically
empowering persons with disabilities
v Women, children
& youth development
v Engage
on advocacy issues to promote disability right movement
v Conduct
emergency response activities
v Initiating and
promoting research in the area of disability and access information
v Participating in
continental and global disability alliance.
FENAPD has organizational policies and
procedures, strategic plan, and implemented a number of successful disability
oriented projects in collaboration with different donors. Considering its recent
achievements, it has lobbied the
government and succeeded in having the UN convention for the rights for persons
with disabilities ratified by Ethiopia; pushed for the establishment of the
national implementation and monitoring committee of the convention and is
serving as general secretary of the committee; pushed for the promulgation of
the proclamation on employment rights of persons with disabilities, and on the
issuance of the proclamation on public building accessibility; assisted on the
establishment of the Disability Media Forum. It is closely working with all
government sector ministries as a Public Wing member and offers advice on the
inclusion of disability agenda in their planning and implementation and
oversees the performance and executed and is implementing successful
development projects in collaboration with ILO, British Embassy, World vision,
Threshold Association, USAID (World Learning) and CBM.
